Data from accountants Wilkins Kennedy suggest that the Government’s austerity
measures are now leading to corporate failures and job losses.
The number of businesses going bust that supply the public sector has leapt by
47% in the last year.
There were 168 businesses in the health & social services, education and defence
sector that went bust in the first six months of 2010, as oppossed to 114 in the
first half of 2009.
This is despite corporate insolvencies as a whole having fallen by 5% over the
same period.
