The National Audit Office (NAO) has accused the government of costing farmers £
22.5 million as a result of errors made in the agricultural payments system.
In its report on the Rural Payments Agency, the NAO found the costs were made in
additional interest and arrangement fees on loans.
The NAO found a catalogue of management errors, which meant thousands of farmers
were left waiting for payments.
