Business recovery expert Tony Supperstone has been appointed President of R3,
the Association of Business Recovery Professionals.
Tony, a chartered accountant who is now a consultant at the Birmingham office of
BDO Stoy Hayward, takes over the role from Ron Robinson. The Presidency is for a
fixed 12-month period.
Supperstone commented: “The insolvency profession is facing some major
challenges.
"Consumer credit has greatly increased over recent years. This is mainly due to
excessive use of credit cards.
"R3 is actively trying to encourage more education on the dangers for young
people today and has called for the government to ensure that they leave school
equipped with proper skills in how to manage money and debt.”
“We will continue to emphasise the importance of educating young people on debt
and how to manage their finances early on.
"On the corporate recovery side, the opportunities to rescue companies have
improved considerably over the years.
"We are very keen to make sure that businesses in difficulty take advice from R3
members at an early stage.”
