Small businesses are
unlikely to be burdened by the government's White Paper on pensions, according
to Work and Pensions Secretary John Hutton.
Speaking at a Federation of Small Business conference, Mr Hutton indicated that
measures would be installed to help with any financial pressure imposed on small
businesses if they are made to pay into staff pensions.
Mr Hutton stated: "We've got to be mindful of the burden this would impose on
small employers, as well as the potential employment implications.
"So let me make one thing clear: should we go down this road, we will have to
look very seriously at how these burdens can be minimised."
