ICM appoints new Director General

16/12/2005

Philip King has been appointed as the new Director General of the Institute of Credit Management (ICM)

He joins the Institute from his previous role as Senior Billing Manager at Vodafone, bringing with him more than 25 years experience of working in credit management as well as a considerable history as an active member of the Institute.

Commenting on his appointment, Mr King stated: “It’s obvious that the Institute’s goal of raising professional standards within the industry is succeeding. The accreditation of the ICM’s examinations has been key to this success and employers are increasingly asking for these qualifications when recruiting credit staff.

"It is an exciting time to be joining the Institute and I am looking forward to ensuring that we continue to be at the forefront of the industry as the UK body for credit professionals.

“My main focus is what the Institute offers to its members. It is apparent from a 2005 membership survey that there is a substantial amount that our members value and that we get right. But we need to look at raising the profile of these services to existing members to ensure that they are aware of improvements and, more importantly, to attract new members”.
